Interview: Tamara.

Hola! Hace unos días tuve mi primera entrevista como periodista con la cantante Tamara. Personalmente es muy especial para mí y me gustaría compartirla con todos vosotros. Así que, espero que os guste! x

Hi everyone! A few days ago I had my first interview as a journalist with the spanish singer Tamara. Personally this is very special for me ('cause it was my first one) and I wanted to share it with you guys. So, hope you like it! x

Tras esperar unos minutos en el hall del lujoso Hotel Palacio de San Martín de Madrid, Tamara nos recibió de la forma más acogedora posible para hablar de su nuevo disco Incondicional. A Juan Carlos Calderón, a la venta el 19 de noviembre. Con su acento andaluz y una cálida sonrisa preguntó si quería tomar algo. Un té con limón y unas pequeñas galletas adornaban la mesa de color blanco marfil al lado de unos preciosos sofás de color granate con detalles dorados.

1. ¡Hola Tamara! Felicidades por tu nuevo disco, Incondicional. Empezaste desde muy pequeña en el mundo de la música, en el programa “Menudas estrellas” y desde entonces todo ha ido viento en popa. ¿Tenías tan claro que te ibas a dedicar a la música en esa edad tan temprana?

R. ¡Hola! ¡Muchísimas gracias! Empecé con la edad de once años, pero profesionalmente a los quince. Yo lo tenía muy claro. Cuando yo salí a cantar al escenario tenía ya clarísimo que quería cantar, y entonces todo vino, sin proponerlo. Seguí yendo a concursos porque era lo que quería hacer y al final vino de la manera más natural posible. El conseguirlo es fácil y rápido, la historia de todo esto es mantenerte.

2. Eres nieta del cantaor flamenco Rafael Farina. Él ha sido un gran modelo a seguir, pero aparte de él ¿cuáles han sido tus influencias?

R. Así es. Yo vengo del mundo del flamenco, las coplas… y en mi casa había siempre mucha cultura musical. Siempre estábamos cantando y bueno, de ahí salió el estilo melódico romántico y mi personalidad se fue marcando.

3. Ahora mismo estás promocionando tu nuevo disco que salió a la venta el 19 de noviembre. Cuéntanos un poquito más sobre él.

R. Este disco es un homenaje al compositor Juan Carlos Calderón. A lo largo de mi carrera he hecho varios, pero este yo creo que es el más especial. El título Incondicional hace referencia a mi estilo, porque siempre lo seré. Él fue el compositor de uno de mis cantantes favoritos, Luis Miguel, y me hacía especial ilusión poder participar en este proyecto. Además, el productor del álbum es su hijo, por lo que es más especial aún.

4. Tu primer disco Gracias, salió a la venta en 1999. ¿Hay mucha diferencia entre este último y el primero?

R. Bueno, yo sigo siendo fiel a mi estilo, es el mismo. Lógicamente profesionalmente sí he ido creciendo, letras más maduras quizás…

5. Sabemos que muchos artistas han tenido que renunciar a la música por diversos motivos, pero ¿alguna vez has pensado en abandonarla?

R. No, nunca. En la vida puedes replantearte muchas veces qué es lo que más necesitas, pero nunca he pensado en eso, siempre he llevado la música conmigo. Hay momentos que depende de cómo tú te encuentres, y a veces puedes pensar, “es que quiero estar más con mi familia, estoy siempre fuera” y en esos momentos dices, “ a ver, vamos más despacio” y luego al día siguiente piensas de manera totalmente diferente, “¡Pero qué tontería! ¿Cómo voy a desvincularme de la música?”. Luego cuando tú trabajas es cuando le das lo mejor a tu familia y además, cuando te sientes satisfecha de todo lo que has hecho hasta ahora es cuando puedes mostrar a tu familia lo mejor de ti. Pero eso no le pasa solamente a los artistas, eso le pasa a todo el mundo.

6. A lo largo de tu carrera has colaborado con muchísimos artistas, ¿hay alguien con el que te encantaría grabar un dueto?

R. Bueno, a mi ídolo Luis Miguel todavía no lo he conocido y él es una de las personas con las que me gustaría colaborar. También está Marc Anthony… y muchos más.

7. Si tuvieras que quedarte con algún instrumento, ¿con cuál te quedarías?

R. Me quedaría definitivamente con el piano. Me encantaría aprender a tocarlo, pero es que de pequeña era muy mala en solfeo y nunca he llegado a aprenderlo bien, pero sí, me encantaría aprenderlo.

8. Hablemos ahora de los planes del futuro, ¿qué nos puedes contar sobre ello?

R. Ahora mismo estamos de promo pero en enero haremos una gira por toda España, iremos también a México a promocionar el disco y después estaré con mi familia.

9. ¿Es duro estar tanto tiempo lejos de ella?

R. Claro, es duro. Los echo muchísimo de menos. Cuando tengo promociones o eventos intento comprimirlo todo. Prefiero estar tres o cuatro días totalmente full y después poder regresar a mi casa antes. Pienso que hay que tener un equilibro y uno decide en su vida sus prioridades, la mía por ejemplo es mi familia.

10. Para finalizar, nos gustaría saber un poquito más acerca de la Tamara que está fuera de los escenarios. ¿Cómo pasas tu día a día cuando no tienes trabajo?

R. Cuando estoy en casa quiero momentos hogareños, quiero cocinar, cantar, ir al cine con los pequeños, pasar tiempo con mi marido. Me gusta mucho leer por las noches, ver la televisión… Me gusta hacer cosas que me hagan olvidar el estrés que mi trabajo conlleva, quiero relajarme, quiero calma… Creo que mi día a día es muy normal, como cualquier otra persona.

After waiting a few minutes in the hall of the luxurious San Martín Palace Hotel in Madrid, Tamara greeted us in a very warm way before starting talking about her new album Incondicional. A Juan Carlos Calderón, on sale November 19th. With her spanish accent and beautiful smile she asked us if we wanted to have something to drink. Small cookies and lemon tea were on the beautiful white table that was next to red sofas with gold details.  

1. Hello Tamara! Congratulations for your new cd, Incondicional. You started in the music world since you were very little in the program "Menudas estrellas" and since then everything's gone so well for you. Did you really know you wanted to be a singer at that age?

R. Hi! Thank you so much! I started in this world when I was eleven, but professionally I started when I was fifteen. I knew so well I wanted to become a singer. When I was on stage performing I knew I wanted to be a singer y then it all came, without planning it. I kept going to contests because that was what I wanted to do in my life and at the end, all came very naturally. Reach it is so easy but the difficult thing is to keep yourself in the top. 

2. Your grandfather is the famous flamenco singer Rafael Farina. He's been an inspiration for you but, besides him, what are your influences? 

R. That's right. I come from the flamenco world and there always have been tones of music at home. We were always singing and well, that was when I took my style, romantic melodic and I was building my personality since then. 

3. Right now you're doing promo of your new album that went on sale on November 19th. Tell us a little more about the cd. 

R. This album is a tribute for the songwriter Juan Carlos Calderón. I've collaborated a lot during my whole career but I think this one is super special. The tittle, Incondicional means my style, because I will always be loyal to it. He was the composer of one of my favorite artists, Luis Miguel, and I was so excited to be able to being part of this project  What's more, the producer of this cd is the son of the man I'm doing this tribute for so it's more special. 

4. Your first album Gracias was released on 1999. Are there many differences between this one and your new cd? 

R. Well, I'm loyal to my style, it's the same. Logically, I've grown professionally, mature lyrics maybe... 

5. Lots of artist have given up to music for some reason, but have you ever thought on giving up? 

R. No, never. In life, you can always rethink what do you need best, but I've never thought that, I've always carried the music with me. Depending on your mood, there're moments in life that you can think "I wanna be with my family, I'm always away from them" and then you say "ok, slow down" and then, the next day you think completely different, "That was bulls**t! How can I give up?". Then when you're working is when you give the best of you to your family, and when you're satisfied with everything you've done so far is when you can show the best of you. But that happens in every career, not only in the music.  

6. As you said before, you've collaborated with lots of artists throughout your career. Is there someone you really want to collaborate with?

R. Well, I haven't met my idol yet, Luis Miguel, and I would love to collaborate with him. I'd also love to collaborate with Marc Anthony and well... so many more. 

7. If you had to choose just one instrument, which one would you choose? 

R. I would definitely choose the piano. I want to learn how to play it, but I was so bad at musical theory when I was little that I've never been able to play something, but I'd love to.

8. Let's talk about the future now, what can you tell us about it? 

R. Right now I'm promoting my new album but we're going to start touring on January around Spain, we'll go to México and well, then I want to be with my family. 

9. Is it too hard for you to be away from them for so long? 

R. Yeah, of course it's hard. I miss them so much. When I have to attend events or promo I want to squeeze everything so I can come back home earlier. I prefer being two or three days full and then coming back home. I think you have to find the balance and well, you decide what you want your prorities are. My priority is my family. 

10. To finish, we would like to know a little bit more about Tamara off the stage. How's a day in your life when you're not working? 

R. When I'm at home I want to stay at home, I want to cook, sing, go to the cinema with the kids, spend time with my husband... I love reading at nights, watching tv... I love doing things that make me forget about the stress of my work, I want to relax... I think that a day in my life is pretty normal, like anybody else's life.
